17.) I agree with the statement that Michael Eisner said, because I am a firm believer that you can learn from your mistakes. Many people are scared of failure, and that sometimes holds them back. Instead of being scared of failing and making a mistake, you should be encouraged to try new things and put everything you have out on the board, cause who knows, it might actually work. Many people don't try things because they're scared to fail, and that holds them back from being successful. I strongly agree with this statement because you have to fail somewhere in order to be successful.
18.) Inspiring people who work for you is a really good idea. Many people do not like their boss, therefore they don't like doing work for them. If they are inspired to do better, they will most likely do more quality work. If you don't encourage them and they aren't motivated, they might not do their tasks with quality work or meet your expectations. Leaders delegate because they want their employees to be the best they can be because it ultimately reflects on them.

2. The overall purpose of management is to plan, organize, lead, and control.
3. Planning - the act or process of creating goals and objectives.
Organizing - getting the resources arranged in an orderly and functional way.
Leading - providing direction
Controlling - operation means keeping the company on track and making sure goals are met.
4. Formal Structure - Departmentalization divides responsibility among specific unis, or departments.
Informal Structure - Does not need a lot of managers
5. Task-oriented, organizer, problem solver, human relations skills, communicate well, and have time-management skills.
6. Planning is what gets everything going, and most situations nothing ever goes well unless it is planned first.
7. Yes, the point of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling is to make sure everything runs smoothly and to account for any changes that might happen. You plan so you see those changes coming and adapt to them.
8. They have to do the job that the middle manager was doing. There is more work for them and they have to be on top of what the middle manager used to do. So their jobs changed because it added more tasks to their agenda.
9. It makes the managers job less stressful and takes a little bit of the pressure off them. Having some input on what the workers think is not only helpful, its smart too because the workers are the ones who really know what their talking about from experience.
10. Formal Business - The management is divided among people, therefore the pressure isn't all on one person and it is shared. Informal- You only need one manager in a smaller business, therefore you can handle everything yourself without consulting people with your every move.
11. Task oriented, knows how to use time wisely, nice, responsible, over-achiever, hard worker, has goals, problem solver, people person, very organized, and communicates well.
12. They talk about the problem too much and focus and spend too much time on it, therefore it becomes more of a problem then it actually is. Something with an easy solution can be over analyzed because of the different view points of it.
13. There is too much for the manager to handle, therefore he might want some help in the management department and change the company into a departmentalization where everyone shares the management responsibilities.
14.An entrepreneur and a manager basically share the same responsibilities of planning, leading, organizing, and controlling. They have to do the same things to keep their businesses running smoothly. The only major difference is that an entrepreneur does not have to control anyone else but himself and a manager has a lot of people to watch.
16. Reasons why managers are hired within a company is that the person was once working there, so they have an inside idea on what needs to change and what needs to be improved, and also what needs to stay the same. Reasons of why managers are hired outside of a company are that the company wants somebody new and refreshing to handle all of the management tasks. Almost like someone with an outside opinion with no bias.
19. I believe it is fair that managers are receiving hirer wages than the workers they manage. They may not be doing more physical labor, but they are doing a lot. They run the entire place, and without the manager, the employees might not be doing there jobs in the first place.
21.I would talk to the employee because it is my job to make sure everyone is doing their job correctly, and tell him how important it is to be doing his job. I would let him know if he continues to not do his job, he will lose it. I would let the President know what had happened too.

Basically after reading this, I realized that this career is really not worth is because most of these jobs are becoming less and less available. As the technology field grows, more computers are editing the work so there is not jobs for the human editor, only journalism and actual writing jobs. Also, i will only get paid in big city areas. Rural tiny towns will not get paid much. I would be lucky to get a job in such a high end place.

Limited Liability Corporation: is a flexible form of enterprise that blends elements of partnership and corporate structures.
A LLC is formed by members, a corporations is formed by filling out forms. They are different because they are taxed differently.
14.) Most retails procure goods from producers for resale. This is because manufactoring and creating the product can get expensive. You have to market, which consists of planning, pricing, promoting, selling, and distributing the goods. All of these things cost money, and things can add up and sometimes be more than your actual profit.
20.) talk to Laura for this one :)

Write About It (14-19)
14.) I think this might be true because if everyone had a job, the prices of everything would go up. Everyone would have some sort of income, which means they'd have money to spend. Many things would increase and price, and people would be spending more money. I think some of the reason things are the prices they are today is because companies know that people cant afford everything, some people dont have money. If everyone had a steady income, they would want more for their product knowing they could get it.
15.) I think that foreign bonds are a good thing. I admit it puts our country in a somewhat vulnerable and dangerous situation, yet they have what we need and we are making friends. America is one of the worst economies, and other countries know that we need alot of help in the present day. Were also making allies while were at it.
16.) Understanding the unemployement rate can be very beneficial to me as im looking for a job. I believe that knowing where to look for a job, what industries are expanding, and what careers there are no jobs for would be really helpful. It almost gives me guide lines of what to do , and what not to do while searching my job, which could help alot!
17.) If the current inflation rate is 3%, I need to account for the future and save some money up because things are going to become more expensive and I realize that there only going to keep increasing because of the economy. I would pick a trust worthy bank with a low interest rate just so i can keep as muh money as i possibly can.
18.) Pros: Your your own boss, i pick the hours, i pick the wages, i hire the employees, i pick the quality of products, i pick what products, i run the business how i beleive it should be ran. Cons: its a lot of work, you are on your own, your in charge incase your business isnt doing well, you suffer the most if it isnt making a profit, your responsible for everything.
19.) I would make sure not to make the same mistakes the two firms did, and make sure i did everything possible not to go down the road those two firms did. I would try to change my products, make them more affordable, better quality, do whatever i could just to make sure I was still making a profit. I would maybe if i could offer more jobs too.

Chapter 2 Review 14-17 , 21
14.) Competition has been beneficial to me in many ways. During a charity event, competition brings more buyers. That was beneficial to me because it made us more money. Another example is during a sport, such as basketball. Competition always makes me try harder and in that case, its beneficial to me because I try harder and have more determination.
15.) I believe natural resources is the most important factor of production because it is one of the resources that we cannot control. It is up to us to make sure we will have enough supply of natural resources for our future. We basically need natural resources to live.
16.) I agree on the statement. People in America focus too much on their personal needs and not enough on the needs of America as a whole. People are so consumed in making money and having the next new trend that they forget that our country is in huge financial problems. We need to stop focusing on personal success and start focusing on fixing our problems as a whole.
17.) Recycling can be considered renewable resources because were reusing the items we've already used over and over again, there for, those certain things that can be recycled are considered renewable. On the other hand, its not renewable because companies are not making products recyclable like they used to. Many people also don't realize the need for recycling, and they are not doing it. This is making us waste many many materials, there for if people don't recycle, all those products are non renewable.
21.) I believe ethics should be considered in making economic choices. Many companies go about making financial decisions the same way, they conduct research, collect and analyze data, monitor economic trends, and develop forecasts. They need to go about this in a professional way in order for them to be respected in the business system. If nobody used ethnics, the business system would be a lot less organized and more chaotic. Also, i think if no ethics were used, competition would be a lot greater and more intense.

Chapter One: Write About It
16.) Market Research is key on maintaining a successful business. Market research is the act of gathering and analyzing information about the wants, needs, and preferences of consumers in a certain market. It is really important for businesses to know what their consumers want, otherwise they will not produce a product that is successful and they will not make a profit.
Companies should do market research on a daily basis because the wants of the people do change periodically. If the businesses keep up with the public wants, there products should always be in demand. If their products are always in demand, they will be successful.
17.) The decisions that businesses make do affect me as a consumer, because there products or services are what I'm looking to purchase. If they make bad decisions, such as their service is bad or they make low quality products, that makes me want to go elsewhere and they lose business and profit then.
18.) The decisions I make affect businesses greatly. I am their customer, which gives them profit, and they want to please the consumer as much as possible. If I decide that I like one product more than the other, they will begin producing that product more because they want the profit. Consumers make trends, and businesses follow with their products.
21.) Sample Confidentiality Agreement
This is a sample confidentiality agreement from the banking industry. Its purpose is to keep information regarding the corporations financial information confidential. These agreements are used in many different fields to basically keep things private. This certain one is for financial matter.

KWL
I do not know a lot about business, but i do know that a lot of topics branch off of business. Things such as investing, the economy, advertising, mathematics, and decision making all have a lot to do with business. I know that its not just all suit and tie, sitting at a desk. It is much more than that.
I would like to know all the parts of business, and see if I would possibly like to go into a career of business. I want to know all the possible careers options involved, and all about them. I want to know about the income of people in business, and what it ranges from. I would like to use this class as a sort of an experiment for me to figure out what I would like to be when I grow up.
